Our Wedding

We couldn't be more thrilled to celebrate our wedding day with you! Portland is one of our favorite places to vacation and we can't wait to share a weekend there. Our story began in 2016, when we met at work in Chicago. We initially connected over being UW-Madison alumni and became friends over 3 years of working together and attending office happy hours. We liked each other but were both too scared to make a move, despite constantly being asked by coworkers what was going on between us! Eventually, a mutual friend's birthday party landed us at Kingston Mines, a legendary blues club in Chicago, where we danced the night away and confessed our feelings for each other. After a few months of dating, the pandemic started and Matt went to Wisconsin to be with his family, while Madeline went to Florida to be with hers. We managed to maintain our relationship via FaceTime for 4 months during quarantine, and we were so excited to be reunited back in Chicago a few months later. The past several years have brought us lots of moves, job and career changes, our hilarious pup Harry, our place in West Loop, and incredible adventures and memories along the way. We feel so lucky to be sharing our lives and to have support from loved ones, and we are so grateful to be able to celebrate our wedding with you!

Welcome to Maine! We'll kick off the weekend with dinner and drinks at one of our favorite spots in Portland. All guests are invited! Attire: Dressy casual - what you’d wear to a nice dinner! Polished but relaxed; think sundresses, tailored pants with a blouse, or dress pants and a dressy collared shirt. September temps in Portland can range from high 70's to high 50's and there can be a slight breeze on the water at night!

Join us for our wedding ceremony followed by cocktails and lunch on the pier. Attire: Cocktail - think suits, cocktail-style dresses (any length), elegant separates, or jumpsuits

Saturday, September 5th at 3:00 PM

The Porthole Restaurant & Pub

After lunch, we'll head to the next pier over for music and celebration!

We love your kiddos! However, due to capacity restrictions, our wedding will be adults-only outside of immediate family. Thank you for your understanding!

Wedding Festivities

Transportation

The Portland Jetport (PWM) is about 10 minutes outside of downtown Portland, and taxis, Ubers, and rental cars are easily available. Boston Logan Airport is also a little over an hour and a half drive away from Portland. Once you arrive in Portland, everything is just a few minutes' walk away!

Accomodations

Portland is full of hotel options - below are a few of our favorites, and we have a small block at the Portland Harbor Hotel (see below). Locations of wedding events can be found under the "Wedding Festivities" section for planning purposes - we recommend booking in or around the Old Port area for maximum walkability. Labor Day weekend is a popular time to visit Portland and hotels will fill up, so we recommend booking on the early side to avoid any issues!
